About Us

NUEYS-DC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote the educational, professional and social advancement of Eritrean-American youth in the Metropolitan DC area, foster greater understanding and knowledge of Eritrea, and facilitate stronger regional and national networks among Diaspora Eritrean youth in the United States.

NUEYS-DC reaches out to the Eritrean-American youth community as a service-providing organization instilling national and cultural pride. After a period of restructuring starting in Fall 2005 and an election in December 2005, NUEYS-DC implemented a portfolio of activities including college admissions workshops a personal skills seminar series, and Eritrean languages instruction. Elections were held in December of 2007 and a new Executive Board will convene in 2008, continuing to instill a sense of responsibility among Diaspora youth and their community.

NUEYS-DC was incorporated in 1997 and is a member of the umbrella organization, NUEYS-NA.
